I can recall as a kid feeling the frustrations of not being able to make my own decisions and at times, and just DYING to be a grown up so I could do WHATEVER I WANTED. What kid doesn’t say with a tiny shaking fist, “WHEN I GROW UP I’M GONNA EAT CANDY ALL DAY AND NEVER BRUSH MY TEETH!”—am I right?
Little did I know that while being an adult DOES come with the privilege of eating ice cream for dinner (or any time you please), adulting also comes with a lot of HARD responsibilities and struggles I’d rather not be with. I often find myself telling my kids to ENJOY the heck out of their childhood while they can have their needs taken care of by mom and dad.
Not that I don’t like being an adult! I do!! But I didn’t appreciate the joys of childhood while I had them, for sure. I didn’t get the responsibility that comes with the freedom of being an adult. As it turns out, thought, that makes me NORMAL—at least as evidenced by this hilarious video from the Canadian Broadcasting Company. The CBC put the question “What are you going to do when you’re an adult?” to several precocious kiddos, and their answers are HYSTERICAL!
From drinking ALL THE COFFEE ALL THE TIME to putting a bunch of jetpacks on your car, these kids are DREAMIN’ BIG (sort of!!) and it will crack you UP big, for sure!
Which reminds me, my mom tells me that when I was a little girl, my dream was to grow up and be a waitress at Dairy Queen so I could get paid in ice cream. 😂 Still doesn’t sound like a bad plan to me. What dreams of adulting did YOU have when you were a kiddo?
