Kristen Bell is pretty much my favorite Hollywood mom—and that may or may not be because I’ve been obsessed with her breakout TV show, Veronica Mars, for over 10 years. But my Mars obsession notwithstanding, Bell keeps making great entertainment—from Princess Anna in Frozen to those hilarious Samsung commercials she does with her husband Dax Shepard. Just when I thought I couldn’t love Bell ANY more, she gave a fantastic interview to CBS Sunday Morning yesterday that endeared her to me even more.
In the interview, Bell talks candidly about how she prioritizes her family—she and Shepard have two young daughters, Lincoln and Delta—over her career. “I always think, if I’m on my deathbed, what am I gonna be thinking about? And it won’t be some random movie I participated in, or some TV show. It will be my family,” she said.
When asked about what kind of father Dax Shepard is, Bell teared up INSTANTLY; it was so very, very sweet. She detailed how Shepard’s past struggles with addictions weigh in on how he parents. “He’s a wonderful father,” she said. “He knows the value of things. He was an addict for many, many years and he pulled himself out of it, and he’s been sober for 11, 12 years now. … And he knows how many times he’s messed up and how many times he’s been really closing to losing everything.”
In a totally surprising move, Bell for the FIRST time shared photos of their wedding ceremony, which took place in the Beverly Hills courthouse, with very little frills.

Bell reiterates that she didn’t need a big ceremony to know her dreams were coming true: “We got married in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse, and it was still one of the best days of my life,” she enthused.
The CBS Sunday Morning feature (above) also includes lots of fun footage of Bell as a child, and in some early acting roles I’d never seen, plus, lots more great quotes from this down-to-earth actress and mom who continues to charm viewers with each new role.
I kinda love the way she’s promoting putting her family first! I think the Bell-Shepard girls probably have it pretty great at home, don’t you?
