‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Rebecca Robertson Reveals She Suffered a Miscarriage

The Robertson Family has had quite the year! They’ve endured a drive-by shooting at their home, several bouts of COVID-19, and celebrated new life coming into their family. But among the ups and downs of 2020, comes more devastating news.

The family’s oldest daughter, Rebecca Robertson Loflin took to Instagram this week revealing that she recently suffered a miscarriage.

“I haven’t really been myself the last couple of weeks, and I’ve debated whether or not to share about this on here,” the 32-year-old wrote in a post featuring several family photos of herself, her son Zane, and husband John Reed Loflin. “I’ve been holding this secret in and acting like everything is okay in front of people.”

Rebecca explained how difficult it has been to field questions from friends and relatives inquiring about when she might have another baby.

“It makes my heart ache every single time,” she said of seeing baby announcements flooding her feed. Not to mention the baby buzz within her own family right now as sister, Sadie Robertson Huff just announced earlier this week that she was expecting a girl with husband Christian.

Rebecca, who came to the United States as an exchange student and was later adopted by Willie and Korie Robertson, said she found out she was pregnant some weeks ago but kept it a secret in hopes of surprising her family during the holidays.

“But when I woke up on October 29th that morning in a pool of blood I knew something was very wrong,” she said in the post. After a trip to the doctor, she found out she’d suffered an early miscarriage (still in the first trimester).

While she initially considered keeping the experience a secret, Rebecca says it seems only fair to share about the good and the bad, but recognizes why so many people don’t share about their pregnancy loss: “shame and blame.”

“But the truth is, sharing it actually has helped me heal,” she wrote. “I also learned that, we will never fully understand the why’s, but I do believe in God’s goodness and we will never get the full picture of what we don’t see in the in between moments & His work in process.”

Fans and friends flooded the comments with encouragement and prayers, praising Rebecca for her bravery and assuring her that she’s not alone in her grief.

Rebecca’s announcement comes on the heels of several other celebrities publicly sharing their pregnancy loss. In September, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were very public about the devastating miscarriage of their son, Jack. And earlier this year, James and Kimberly Van Der Beek opened up about their FIVE miscarriages.
