Jessa Duggar Held a HUGE Shower For Baby #2—With a Surprising Twist

Though it’s not terribly common for a young mom with a toddler to have a baby shower for her 2nd child, I think it is becoming more and more acceptable these days—especially if you’re expecting a child of a different gender. In my case, I had a shower for my 3rd child because he was not originally, um, planned 🙂 and we had given away ALL our baby stuff many years before! Whatever the reason, I think it’s safe to say reality TV star Jessa Duggar Seewald isn’t your “typical” second-time mom, and so she DID have a shower for the 2nd child she’s expecting. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t typical EITHER—though totally not in a way I expected!

Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben Seewald are already parents to a son, Spurgeon Elliot, and they announced their second pregnancy in August, saying in a statement, “Having Spurgeon has been such a wonderful blessing and we cannot wait to see the face of this sweet new baby (or babies!)”

But back to that baby shower! The Seewalds held a WHOPPER of a party—a HUGE shower with over 130 guests—now that’s a lot of baby gifts! But that interesting twist I mentioned?? The gifts weren’t for Baby Seewald at all, but for a local pro-life women’s center called Loving Choices Pregnancy Centers of Arkansas. And while the shower guests did enjoy a typical fare of delicious shower food, US Weekly reports that they also spent a good bit of time assembling care packages for the women who come to Loving Choices seeking help with a crisis pregnancy.

I have to tell you, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a baby shower that gives back, and I LOVE it. What an amazing way to honor the life of the newest Duggar family member—by helping an organization that helps women who have the courage to choose life for their own precious babies.

Three cheers for Jessa Duggar Seewald and family for not just talking the talk, but walking the pro-life walk as well. Best wishes as you welcome your new little one.
