Kanye West Creates College Fund for George Floyd’s 6-Year-Old Daughter

Kanye West

Kanye West has set up a college fund for the daughter of George Floyd—the black man who wrongfully died in Minneapolis police custody last Monday.

Since his death, peaceful protests as well as destructive riots against police brutality have broken out across the country and around the world. People from every walk of life are joining together to put an end to the racism and prejudice that still plague our nation.

Kanye West is doing his part to promote peace and stand for justice this week. In addition to establishing a 529 college savings fund to fully cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, Gianna, the rapper has donated over $2 million so far to assist the families and legal teams fighting for Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.

He’s also donating to several black-owned businesses that have been impacted by crisis and unrest in both his hometown of Chicago, and nationwide. Kanye was also seen peacefully protesting alongside public school kids in Chicago this week as the country seeks justice for George Floyd.

On Monday, Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, announced in an Instagram post that she would be donating to Black Lives Matter, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, National Urban League, and Color Of Change.

It’s just one small step in the right direction during this critical moment in history, and a reflection of the contagious generosity we’re all called to as believers in Christ.
