Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard Admit They’ve Been ‘At Each Other’s Throats’ in Social Isolation

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard might just be the most relatable celebrities to ever walk the planet.

In a remote interview with Katie Couric this week, Kristen and Dax revealed that they’ve been struggling to get along in this bizarre time of social isolation.

And all the mamas said A-MEN.

Kristen, who has been a major voice for the social distancing movement since day one of this whole pandemic, has been in the house for over a month now with Dax and their two daughters, Lincoln, 7, and Delta, 5.

Like so many of us, the couple is learning that too much togetherness can be hard on a marriage.

They told Katie Couric that they’re getting along well with the kids, and with the adults they’re friends with. Each other though? Not so much.

“This has been stressful for mom and dad,” Dax said, with Kristen adding, “We’ve been at each others’ throats real bad.”

“I think what you guys are going through is being repeated in families all over the country,” Katie said.

There’s solidarity in seeing other people struggling in the same ways you are. There’s comfort in knowing that you’re not a bad mom or a bad wife because you’re overwhelmed and stressed. I can honestly say I’m thankful for Kristen and Dax’s transparency through all of this, because it’s a reminder that we’re not alone.

Kristen sat down with Katie to discuss her Nickelodeon special—which aired Monday night—where she talked with experts to answer kids’ questions about coronavirus.

“The whole point of the special is that we’re listening,” she says. “They’re in charge and we’re listening. Then we go into the emotional part of it because, look, kids are worried about missing their summer camps, they’re missing their birthdays…those kids do deserve the opportunity to say, ‘I’m bummed.’”

As for her own kids, Kristen says they haven’t asked a lot of questions about the virus, but it’s clear it’s on their minds.

Last week, Kristen says Delta walked out of the bathroom holding a toy vile full of colored water and said, “I just made the vaccine for coronavirus!”
