Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced over the weekend that they are expecting another child in 2021!
“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the couple said Sunday.
The news comes just three months after Meghan revealed publicly that she suffered a miscarriage last July.
“Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,” she wrote in a heartbreakingly raw New York Times essay on November 25. “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”
Meghan and Harry shared the exciting news of their rainbow baby on Valentine’s Day with a stunning black-and-white photo, which was taken remotely via iPad by their friend and longtime photographer, Misan Harriman.
The photo features the smiling couple lounging sweetly in the grass, surrounded by beautiful trees. A barefoot Harry gazes sweetly at his bride as she rests her head in his lap. Meghan, who cradles her bump as she looks up at Harry, wore the same flowing dress she first had made when she was pregnant with Archie.
The couple, who officially stepped down from their roles as senior royals last year, have spent most of the pandemic settling into their new home in Montecito, California. They’re focusing on developing their new foundation, Archewell.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
