We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz. The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives. More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.
Kensington Palace said in a statement that the boy, whose name has not yet been announced, was born at 5:26 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
“The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives,” the birth announcement said on Instagram. “More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”
Prince Harry was by Meghan Markle’s side through the delivery, but other details have yet to be reported.
Speaking to the press on Monday morning, an overjoyed Harry said “it’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined,” adding that he can’t comprehend how women do what they do.
He told the press that mom and the newest royal baby are doing “incredible,” and that he is thankful for all of the support their family has received from “everybody out there.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke a royal family tradition with the arrival of their newest bundle of joy, ditching the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London for what the press believes to be a home-birth, as mom and baby are both doing well at the couple’s home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
The couple has ruffled some tail feathers with a far more intensive effort for privacy. Their less-than-royal birthing protocol means the press will not have the usual royal baby photo-op on the steps of St. Mary’s.
On April 11, palace officials revealed that the new parents would wait two days before releasing any photos of their new son, allowing themselves the “opportunity to celebrate privately as a family.”
In his interview with the press Monday, Harry confirmed that more information on the little tyke would come two days from now.
But now the question we all want answered: WHAT WILL THE NAME BE?
The newest royal baby is now seventh in line for the throne. His arrival is timely — just weeks before the Duke and Duchess celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
