Country Music star Carrie Underwood is undoubtedly one of the most talented people on the planet. But as it turns out this week, her professional hockey player husband, Mike Fisher, also has some hidden talents up his sleeve.
The recently re-retired NHL player put his own spin on one of his wife’s classic hits this week to promote his new line of hunting apparel, Catchin’ Deers, and the result is nothing short of fantastic.
Fisher channeled his inner Carrie Underwood in a parody version of the 2006 hit, “Before He Cheats,” which he appropriately titled, “Before She Bleats.”
“Right now he’s probably out grazing with a corn-fed doe and it’s probably getting frisky,” the former Nashville Predator sings in the clip.
The “new #1 deer huntin’ song” refers to the noise some female deer make when it’s time to mate. And as any good hunter, (or hunter’s wife) will tell you, mating season is one of the best times to get that kill.
Instead of the very familiar line of, ”Maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats,” Fisher proudly belts out, “Maybe next time she’ll think before she bleats.”
The ad stays pretty true to the making of Carrie’s original music video with clips of Fisher driving around in his truck singing, and views of the “mating” that’s going down out in the field—formerly the adultery going down in a back alley.
“I’d like to thank all the people that helped make this dream come true,” the 38-year-old joked in an Instagram post. “It’s been a long time coming but excited to share my heart and soul through this song. Hope you guys enjoy!”
Carrie Underwood has yet to make a public reaction to her hubby’s new hit, but it’s safe to say that she’s proud to support him.
“I think most people know she’s not a hunting fan,” Fisher told Entertainment Tonight of his vegan-eating, animal loving wife. “Opposites attract,” he said. “My wife is the best. She puts up with my hunting and she loves me.”
Hats off to this dynamic duo, who love Jesus, love each other, and will be welcoming their second child early next year!
