WATCH: John Krasinski Hosts Epic Virtual Prom for the Class of 2020

John Krasinski

For the past few weeks of quarantine life, John Krasinski has been hosting his “Some Good News” YouTube show from his home office. Each week, he features the best news the internet has to offer, and even brings in special celebrity guests.

Last Wednesday, “The Office” alum took to Instagram with plans to host a virtual prom on Friday for high school seniors whose proms have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“First of all… you’re welcome,” Krasinski wrote, sharing a throwback picture from his senior prom. “Second of all I can’t take it anymore how much you are all missing your prom. So let’s do something about it!” he wrote, followed by the hashtag #SGNProm

“Yup, I’ll DJ with some friends on Friday 8 EST/5 PST! Stay tuned!”

When Friday rolled around, Krasinski did NOT disappoint.

Calling on reinforcements like The Jonas Brothers, Billie Eilish, Chance the Rapper, and even former co-star, Rainn Wilson, Krasinski delivered what has to be the most epic virtual prom to ever grace the internet.

“Welcome to prom class of 2020,” the 40-year-old said, over clips from TikTok of seniors across the nation partaking in his virtual prom.

Not only did he coordinate and host the whole online event, but he was the DJ too!

After sharing a dance with Wilson and Chance the Rapper, Krasinski looped in the Jonas Brothers, who admittedly never got to go to their own prom either.

The trio performed a version of their hit, “Sucker,” before handing things over to Billie Eilish, another celeb who never got to attend her senior prom.

Ellish performed a song with her brother, Finneas, to close out Krasinski’s prom coverage.

After the festivities were over, he wished the class of 2020 a goodnight on Instagram with a behind-the-scenes picture of his DJ station, which was surrounded by lit glow sticks.

Krasinski said in a later post that the SGN prom “was some of the most fun I’ve ever had,” calling the fourth installment of his made up news broadcast his “favorite.”
