America’s sweethearts Joanna and Chip Gaines can basically do no wrong. We looooved them on their hit show Fixer Upper, but we couldn’t even be mad at them after the discontinued it after five years because they wanted to step back and focus on family. I mean…come on. (And since that “focus” resulted in a new Gaines baby, wellll… <3.) Recently, Joanna and Chip Gaines have offered to host a church for the homeless on their business property and helped a couple fund their adoption of a child with Down syndrome from China. Could they BE any more awesome?
Yes. Yes they could, as they proved in a visit to Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show last week.
Joanna and Chip Gaines (well, ok, mostly Chip) made a HUGE announcement to Jimmy Fallon!
Not only are they coming back to TV, the Gaineses are coming back with a whole new NETWORK!!
“We signed a non-disclosure and it said, quote unquote, you can tell your mother, but that’s it,” Chip told Jimmy Fallon. “So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we are coming back to television. You are going to get to see the kids grow up, you are going to see us, well maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world, but we are excited to be back.”
Though the didn’t reveal too much more detail than that to Jimmy, after the show, more details became available in the media. Which is great, because WE NEED DETAILS, and I right?
USA Today reported that Joanna and Chip Gaines are in talks with HGTV’s parent network, Discovery, on a new network of their very own.
“Discovery is thrilled to confirm that we are in exclusive talks with Chip and Joanna Gaines,” Discovery said in a statement Saturday. “The Gaineses are exceptional people, true authentic storytellers and creative visionaries who will nourish millions of people with quality, family-friendly programming accessible on a 24/7 network and across all screens.”
USA Today also reports that that the network will be called the Magnolia network, after the Gaines’ business, and is expected to launch in 12 to 18 months.
The Gaines told Fallon that they’ve figured out after five years on-air, how to make the TV biz work for their family.
“I think we’re going to really carve it out in a way that makes sense to us and our family,” Chip said. “It’s going to be filmed a lot in Waco, Texas, so we don’t have to travel a whole lot. So with all things being equal, we’re really excited.”
Any way you slice it, this is great news for Joanna and Chip Gaines fans! I can’t wait to see what the Magnolia Network becomes, can you?
Are you excited about the Gaines return to TV? Why or why not?
