Sadly, most moms have been shamed for one or more of their parenting choices, whether straight to their faces or behind their backs. For some reason, it appears we moms like to “eat our own”—openly criticizing each other’s choices on feeding, schooling, and even whether we watch them too closely or not closely enough at the playground.
Blogger Jenny Ingram of Jenny on the Spot has always been outspoken and funny, so when the app MomLife was looking for a blogger to partner with on their #StopMomShaming campaign, she was the perfect choice. The video she created to bring attention to and call out mom shaming is SO spot on it hurts! Although Jenny confronts the topic in a hilarious way, she eventually moves to the serious—because at the end of the day, making each other feel like crap about our parenting choices when we’re all just trying to do our best? Is pretty heinous.
“Mom shaming is never OK,” Ingram says. “We are our own experts in our own kids. We need to be supportive. If a mom friend or a mom acquaintance or a mom stranger is struggling, we extend a hand.”
I hope you’ll watch and share Ingram’s video and help to END mom shaming and EXTEND that helping hand to our fellow mamas who need it SO much!
