At Her Husband’s Funeral, She Realizes She’s Pregnant—Then She Gets an Ultrasound

The moments in life that are equally bursting with joy and grief are few and far between, but that’s exactly what happened to Courtney Hill.

Courtney and her husband Brian met in the middle of a snowstorm in 2011 at Timothy O’Toole’s in Gurney. The chance encounter soon blossomed into an unforgettable romance that led to their 5-year marriage and the birth of a beautiful child.

However, their “til death do us part” came much too soon for Courtney when she learned that her husband died in a tragic Oklahoma trucking accident on February 2, 2016. The retired Navy Veteran had served in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

Courtney was absolutely devastated when she got the heartbreaking phone call…and 6 weeks later, it still hasn’t fully sunk in.

“I haven’t had a chance of downtime to sit alone and think what really is happening,” she said.

But the day of her husband’s wake, Courtney received unbelievable news that has helped her to cope with the pain. Her and Brian had been trying to have another child before he died, so she decided to take a pregnancy test—and it came back POSITIVE. She was going to have a baby! (or so she thought)

She was able to grab her husband’s hand at his funeral and tell him herself, just before he was laid to rest in the ground.

But little did Courtney know, there was even bigger news in store for her.

Just two weeks ago, she started to have complications that scared her family, especially her father. “We were frightened that she was losing the baby,” said her dad, Oscar Blomgren.

However, it was exactly the opposite.

Courtney said, “Dad, I have news for you.”

She was going to have triplets!!!

“My jaw DROPPED,” shared the stunned mother.
While Courtney is devastated by Brian’s death, she’s so grateful to be blessed with a bountiful legacy to keep her husband’s memory alive with her every day.

“I’m excited to have three more smiles that remind me of him,” said Courtney.
