Miracles continue to happen for country duo Joey and Rory Feek, even as she battles terminal cervical cancer. Not only did they receive an unexpected Grammy nomination, but Joey also got her wish of being here on earth for their daughter Indiana’s 2nd birthday last week. And now—a totally unexpected but well-deserved honor: their new album Hymns and Songs That Are Important to Us, which debuted last week, is a whopping NUMBER ONE on the Billboard country and contemporary Christian charts and No. 4 on the top 200 chart!!!
Rory Feek told People.com, “When the label called to give us the news I immediately took the phone in to Joey,” explains Rory, 50. “This recording was ‘hers’ from the beginning. This is one that she has always wanted to make, and she’s worked so hard to make it happen, in spite of the difficult circumstances she is facing. As I congratulated her, she responded through tears: ‘No, honey, this is God’s record.'”
The album is inspired by Joey and Rory’s deep faith in Christ, which has sustained them over the last months of her health crisis. It makes me so happy that through this tragedy, God is using the Feeks to bring glory and fame to HIS name. If you know anything about Joey and Rory’s testimony, you know she wouldn’t want it any other way.
Congratulations to the Feeks, and of course, all our love and continued prayers!
