Joey Feek Can No Longer Get Out of Bed, But She Doesn’t Let That Keep Her Down

Yesterday on his blog, country singer and devoted husband Rory Feek of the due Joey & Rory reported that his wife Joey can no longer get out of bed. Joey has been fighting cervical cancer for most of the last 18 months and is currently receiving hospice care at her parents’ home in Indiana.

Rory says that although they know things look bleak, Joey stays positive and is full of hope.

He writes, “There isn’t a day that goes by that she doesn’t look me and her family in the eye and say “I’m gonna beat this”, or “I’m getting better, I believe that”.  And she asks me if I believe it, and I do. I choose to,” he says.

Rory tells of how even from her hospice bed, Joey delights in their little girl Indiana, 19 months, and that their sweet baby girl fuels the fire that is Joey’s desire to live. “My wife is strong.  Very very strong.  So is her will to live.  Especially with a little one who gets excited every morning to see her.”

I confess I shed a tear when Rory told a story of a few days ago, when Joey was last able to get out of bed. The devoted couple, who is teaching the world what “in sickness and in health” really means, was able to share a last dance on the last day Joey was up out of bed. Rory touchingly describes how even though she needed her cane to help her stand, she teasingly asked him to let HER lead halfway through.

The song they danced to?  George Strait’s “You Look So Good In Love”.

Joey, you DO look so good in love. In love with your sweet husband and with the Savior you have told us SO much about during your cancer journey.

Keep praying for this special couple whose faith is inspiring so many, and telling so many about Jesus!
