This Waiter’s Act of Kindness to a New Mom Is the Most Beautiful “Above & Beyond”

Parenting a newborn is full of blessings, but it doesn’t come without its fair share of challenges. Amidst the colicky screams, diaper changes and constant feedings, it often feels impossible just to steal a moment to get a few bites in yourself. I know when I had infants, I DEFINITELY wished I could clone myself—or that I at least had an extra pair of hands!

One waiter at an Olive Garden in Little Rock, Ark., was all too aware of that struggle as he watched one young mother try to feed her baby girl while she was out to eat. After he saw a new mom Dallas French spill her baby’s bottle and then make a new one as he delivered her food, he went WAY above and beyond his normal table waiting duties.

French tells her story in a heartwarming Facebook post to Olive Garden’s Facebook page that his been shared nearly 30,000 times:

I forgot to post this Thursday after all that had happened that day I was really out of it (and probably the lack of sleep this past month) but we went to Olive Garden in little rock after Ellees tests at Children’s hospital and she was starving and I was trying to make a bottle and spilled it all over me and the floor and made another bottle and our waiter (wish I knew his name) watched all that had happened and just had brought our salad and bread sticks and said here let me feed her and you eat.. This melted all of us and this is what we need more of! He fed her I ate my salad and bread sticks and that milk on the floor got cleaned up after we left because he just understood! He didn’t even know what we had went through that day and showed us love and understanding- not irritated that I had made a mess and my baby was screaming… Gosh I wish I woulda got his name because he deserves the recognition!! And it’s the Olive Garden on Rodney parham in little rock AR!

Eating out with kids is always hard, and a mom of an infant could ALWAYS use an extra pair of hands to get herself AND baby fed. I can’t tell you how touched I am that this intuitive young man just WENT FOR IT and fed that baby girl! So many would be too flustered around a baby to even give it a try. Kudos to this guy, and I hope he got a RAISE for his amazing customer service and all the PR Olive Garden is getting from this!
