Yesterday morning on Facebook and Instagram, Rory Feek shared a touching photo of their two teen girls and baby daughter Indiana hugging their mom Joey Feek as she sits in a chair at her mother’s home where she is receiving hospice are for terminal cervical cancer. The touching caption simply reads: “…our girls drove up here last night to spend more time with their mom and baby sister.”
In a previous post on his blog, This Life I Live, Rory had shared that Joey had already said a heartbreaking goodbye to their two older girls, Heidi and Hopie. He says, ”
She told them how much she loved them, and how proud she is of them. And how proud she is to be their mother. And then she talked with them about the one thing that she didn’t think she would ever have to talk with them about:
And then she told them of the day when they’ll be together again in Heaven.”
In a candid interview with the Tennesseean, Joey said “I don’t fear anything because I’m so close to God and we’ve talked about it so many times. I know he’s close. And I know he loves me. I’m really at peace. I still believe there’s healing in prayer.”
She went on to say: “But God decided for me that my job of singing for people down here is my legacy, and he needs me singing up there. That’s how I look at it.”
Just when you think this story can’t get ANY more inspiring…tears fall afresh. Joey, you are truly an angel here on earth, for now. Continued prayers to your beautiful family.
