Colin Farrell Gives a Glimpse into His Son’s Life With Angelman Syndrome

Colin Farrell Is Transparent About Both of His Boys

Farrell has two sons, James (2003) and Henry (2009), the “prides” of his life. He is most grateful for his sobriety. After decades of alcohol and drug use, Farrell checked himself into rehab. He’s been sober since 2006. James was about two at the time.

“I was in no condition to be a friend, never mind a father of a child with such exacting needs.” Farrell continued, “So if it wasn’t for my sobriety, I wouldn’t be able to be there for James and enjoying the marvel of his life and support him in the way that I feel that I can.”

He wasn’t being flippant or claiming that his boys are perfect. “We have rage in arguments here,” Farrell said. “We have disagreements, and there’s stuff that happens that’s not cool.”

“James works harder than I’ve ever had to work on myself,” said Farrell. “Sometimes, it takes 90 seconds to take a T-shirt off.” The smallest task becomes a huge achievement for James.

“I’m proud of him every day,” said Farrell. “I just think he’s magic.”
