There are times in our lives when everything feels uncertain, even the ground we stand on. We have questions, worries, fears, concerns. The world seems as if it’s moving so quickly and we have so much responsibility to keep up. We crave change, something big and quick to alleviate our pain, a fresh start. In those moments, in all moments, it’s vital to remember that while this world may be ever-changing, God is not.
Over the next few months, I invite you to join me throughout my reflections, as we uncover the steadiness of the Lord and the richness of His love for us through big and small moments: in the comfort of a homemade chicken soup at the end of a cold day, in the joy of a little boy who finally lost his first tooth, and even in the sunrise after a storm.
Years ago, when I first created the Simplified Planner, I imagined you, with your cup of coffee or tea, a pen in hand, seated at your kitchen table, enjoying a few quiet moments before the kids awoke or before getting ready for work. I loved the idea that this tool would help you navigate your day and be your constant companion as you took care of whatever it was that mattered to you. And now, I’m honored to be with you during that quiet time in a new way. Join me at the end of this book to explore the importance and nuance of a carefully crafted morning routine—one tailored to your needs and your season—to help you prepare your heart and mind for the day.
My prayer is that this morning devotional will come alongside you as you sit down to plan your day and fill your well, inspiring you to find delight in the ordinary, to create magic in your home, and to celebrate God’s unchanging, unfailing love for us hour after hour.
Just don’t forget to look out the window.
