Preparing for Hurricane Florence: Elementary School Students Gather, Sing ‘Eye of the Storm’

With over 1 million people evacuated from East Coast towns, and empty grocery store shelves across five states, Hurricane Florence has already left a mark on those in her path.

The National Weather Service said more than 10 million people live in areas that are under warnings or watches for hurricane-force winds as Florence prepares to make landfall.

The now-category 2 storm has been stirring states of emergency and precaution for over a week, and is finally set to strike the Carolinas later this evening.

While most east coasters have had their eyes fixed on hurricane updates or scrambling to find bottled water, one North Carolina elementary school is reminding us all of the One our eyes should be fixed on.

Preparing for Hurricane Florence

Students at Wayne Christian School in Goldsboro, North Carolina lined their hallways this week and joined together in a rendition of Ryan Stevenson’s “Eye of the Storm.”

“In the eye of the storm
You remain in control
And in the middle of the war
You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor
When my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me
In the eye of the storm.”
