And a 2021 Journal of Health Communication says that sexual aggression is now widely recognized as a public health crisis.
As parents, we don’t need statistics to prove that porn is wherever our children are. It’s a multi-billion dollar a year industry that seeks to capture young eyes.
Earlier this year, Netflix’s Bridgerton racked up a whopping 82 million views in its first month on the platform. It also roped an entire generation of tweens, teens, and their parents into pornography in just the first two minutes. And again in each episode throughout the series.
Rated TV-MA for mature audiences, Bridgerton is pornography disguised as a thrilling period piece, and now widely accepted among youths and parents alike. It’s not limited to Bridgerton, or even Netflix. This is happening everywhere.
We have to do better, friends. A TV rating means nothing when it comes to our children’s souls. Age-appropriateness does not equate to righteousness. Let’s lead our children well, and protect the young eyes in our households. The future of our world literally depends on it.
