Every bride dreams of her perfect groom and her perfect wedding day, but Canadian bride Brittany Cook recently got more than she bargained for in her new husband Clayton. Though their wedding photo session took an odd turn of events, groom Clayton’s actions during the photo session proved that Brittany’s groom is also the BEST MAN.
Their wedding day was a hot one, and their photographer Darren Hatt took them to a local park on the river for photos. There were kids and families everywhere, and Clayton and Brittany posed for photos by the river and on a picturesque bridge. As Brittany was getting solo portraits done by herself, Clayton noticed that the 3 kids who had been watching them were suddenly only TWO kids—and within a split second he realized the missing child was IN the river struggling.
Without a thought, Clayton Cook, in full wedding attire, jumped into the river and plucked the little boy out.
“His face was under water, and he was fighting,” Clayton told CTV news. Luckily, the water was easy for a big guy like Clayton to navigate, and he pulled the child to safety immediately.
Photographer Hatt captured the ordeal in photos that are going viral on Facebook, ensuring the Cooks will NEVER forget what a miraculous event took place on their wedding day.

Brittany Cook says though she was surprised to look over and see her new husband in the water, she’s not at ALL surprised that he jumped in.
That’s Clay,” she says, gesturing to her husband. “Like, that’s Clay to me. It doesn’t even surprise me that that happened.”
Photographer Hatt adds that Cook acted remarkably quickly. “Almost as soon as I realized what was going on, he had already saved the day.”
It sounds to me like this wedding WAS the stuff of fairy tales—complete with a soggy but heroic knight in shining armor! I’m so thankful God put Clayton Cook in the right place at the right time!
