Mom Inspires Others with Viral “How to Be a Person Camp”—Teaches Kids Essential Life Skills

Making It Fun and Child-Led

Rowe advises other parents to keep the camp child-led and enjoyable. “I think making it child-led, as long as they’re interested and open to learning and making it fun. Because then if it turns into like this big homework checklist, I don’t think that would be fun for them,” she noted. Ley agrees, suggesting that parents look for everyday tasks their children can take on. “And it may be different for different kids. I mean, my oldest has done a lot of these things. My youngest two have not done all of them. But I think that’s a really good place to start, just looking around at the things that you’re doing that they might be able to help with.”

Building Independence and Confidence

The “How to Be a Person Camp” not only teaches children essential life skills but also fosters independence and confidence. Rowe and Ley’s experiences highlight the benefits of empowering children to take on responsibilities and learn new things. By engaging in these activities, children gain a sense of accomplishment and readiness for the future.

As summer unfolds, Kaitlyn Rowe and Emily Ley continue to inspire parents to use this time as an opportunity to teach their children essential life skills in a fun and supportive environment. Through their innovative approach, they are helping to raise a generation of capable and confident individuals, ready to take on the world one skill at a time.
