“When I got back I called my son to help with the groceries and he begged me to be really quiet as I came in because they were doing ‘realism art,'” Monica explained. “When I walked in, they were all sitting quietly drawing my husband asleep on the couch. When I asked what they were doing they said, ‘Dad promised a chocolate bar to the person who has the most complete drawing and said if we were loud and woke him up before everyone was done then he would move and we would have to start all over so please be quiet so he doesn’t wake up.'”
Monica captured a photo of Mike’s impromptu “art session” and shared it on Facebook, celebrating her husband’s ingenuity.
“I’m pretty sure he’s the most brilliant man I’ve ever known,” she wrote in the now-viral post. “The winner gets a chocolate, but let’s be honest; he is the one winning.”
Mike says he’s always trying to come up with fun and creative ways to get things done.
“My wife and I have been together since middle school and we really love to have fun, are pretty laid back parents, and love having our four kids around,” he told Bored Panda. “However, as any parent knows, life with kids—especially four—requires you to be pretty creative in getting any time to yourself. We’ve just recently relocated from the east coast away from our family support, so my wife and I are juggling many hats these days.”
“And quite honestly,” he continues, “My kids will do darn near any chore or task for some candy.”
