Please, PLEASE, have some respect for people. You never know what someone is going through or if your one little comment, snicker, stare, whatever will be enough to break someone down or push them over the edge. I’m not writing this for sympathy but just as a plea to anyone who might read this to just be nice and have respect for people. I fear for my daughter to grow up in this world. We’ve gotta set a good example for our children.
I feel sad Stevens even apologized a little bit for her size, because she shouldn’t have to do that. First of all she just freaking had a baby five months ago, and secondly even if she hadn’t, IT DOESN’T MATTER!!! She looks great THE WAY SHE IS. And I echo her fears about her daughter having been with her. It’s bad enough that the lady insulted her in front of her infant, but I cannot imagine the effect if her four-year-old daughter had heard that woman’s words.
I am sure I am preaching to the choir here, but there’s no reason for any of us to approach a complete stranger in the grocery store unless we have something nice to say or something helpful to do for them. ‘Tis the season to not be a jerk face. Of course, I do give my complete blessing if you happen to see a total stranger body shaming another total stranger at the grocery store — go ahead and step in and put the body shamer in their place!!
Thanks Charli, for sharing your story. Hold your head up high, Mama! You are beautiful, and your message is helping others!
