Survival in Paradise
Thankfully, by the grace of God, Sanders and David were finally able to navigate a way out of the fire. After having to back-track and reroute all day long, they ended up back at the same hospital they had started at, which had miraculously survived.
She was later sent to another hospital where she was reunited with her husband and two other children.
As for David, Sanders said he came and checked on her and the baby at the hospital, where Sanders’ husband thanked him. The two have exchanged phone numbers and plan to stay in contact.
Sanders says the real story here is not her decision to sacrifice for her baby, but the everyday heroes like David. “There are stories like that all over the town of Paradise right now, and it is absolutely amazing.”
Amidst the devastation and loss, Sanders says she has so much to be grateful for. “Never have I had a Thanksgiving come where I have had so little and felt more thankful and blessed.”
