As I have grown up, you have had your work cut out for you and helped me as I have suffered from unfounded fear and insecurity. Through you actions and constant encouragement, you have done your best to teach me who I am in Christ. Every day when I get home from work or school, you ask me how my day was and what happened. You have taught me how to love God, how to love others, how to work hard, and how to be silly and have fun. Thank you. I can’t think of any two people that are more Christlike and qualified to teach someone…well…how to be a person.
With the right amount of money and the right qualifications, anyone could adopt a child. With the right resources, they could help Fang Tou to learn English and a navigate a new environment. However, not just anyone can provide a home. I am confident that you both will teach him not only how to succeed by the worldly definition, but that he will flourish as a child of God because of your love. When Jesus saw humanity in all of its sin, he could have chosen to do nothing. He could have chosen just to feel really bad for us. The trip from Heaven to Earth was inconvenient to say the least, and it was definitely costly. I cannot wait for Fang Tou to understand the beautiful imitation of Jesus that his mom and dad are when he realizes that they dropped everything and travelled to China because our home is not complete without him. Mom and Dad, thank you for all you have taught me about being a person and about following Jesus. I have no doubt in my mind that Fang Tou will love you just as much as I do. Thank you for giving me a new brother. I can’t wait to watch you become a mom and dad again.
