As Moms, We Forget How to Slow Down. And Stop. And Rest.

To a mama, resting means

Cleaning out closets

Washing sheets

Planning meals

Buying groceries

Folding clothes

Picking up

Researching everything

We forget how to slow down. And stop. And rest.

Mama, God holds today and tomorrow in His capable hands, and He assures us we can trust Him and enjoy Him and rest.

The things that are waiting on us right now will still be waiting on us in 3 hours or 3 days, so let’s accept that we’re always needed for the job. And that’s a good thing. But we must pace ourselves.

Let’s not hurry ourselves along so much.

Let’s make time today to delight in something that brings us peace. And let’s remember our work is good. But so is our rest.

Rest from the busy.

Rest from stress.

Rest from comparison.

Rest from worry.

Rest from control.

And delight in God’s goodness instead.

He is so very good.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
