7 Bible Verses For the Hurting Heart

This is not the post I intended to write today. I was going to continue writing about the upbeat topic of Fall season and how we are embracing it as a family. I shared 7 Fall Educational Activities for Preschoolers a few days ago and wanted to continue to talk about a lighthearted subject.

But God had other plans for my words.

Everywhere I turn, every time the phone rings, I am bombarded with a loved one suffering in one way or another. A friend battling depression and on the verge of a breakdown, another on the brink of a foreclosed home, and another continuing to fight infertility one day at a time.

The world is hurting, crying out for help, needing the healing balm of the Lord to ease the aches and pains of this life. My heart breaks for my friends (and even strangers I hear about) as they hurt, and I long for solutions for the problems they face. Wanting to ease their pain, I pray for words of wisdom and to somehow be a ray of hope in their darkness.

Yet I am not the solution. I am not the hope they need. They don’t need a to-do list of ways to overcome these troubles.

They need Jesus.

HE is their light in the darkness.

HE provides shelter from the storm.

HE alone can lift the fog of depression.

HE can heal the hurting and mend broken dreams.

HE, the author of all hope and the giver of life, is faithful!

Whether or your not your in the pit of despair today, at the end of your rope or wondering if there is more to life than your momentary troubles, know THERE IS HOPE AND THERE IS HEALING!

Grab a hold of these Bible verses for the hurting heart, soak in these promises and rest in the peace of the Holy One who has already overcome it all!

7 Bible Verses For the Hurting Heart

1. When your heart hurts and threatens to destroy you, LOOK UP and know he has not forsaken you.

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 9:9-10

2. Recognize his light and power in the midst of darkness and PUT YOUR HOPE IN HIM.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31.
