Sharing the News with the World
Danya took to Facebook to announce the birth of their daughter, Summer, sharing a photo of Rebecca and their newborn. In his post, he also offered an apology to anyone who had witnessed him driving “like a madman” on the highway that morning. “We were just trying to get to the hospital as fast as we could,” he explained.
He also couldn’t help but gush about his wife, calling her “an absolute legend” for delivering their daughter so swiftly and safely under such unexpected circumstances. “Let the record show there is a new Mahota among us, and she appeared in quite dramatic fashion! Everyone is healthy and happy at the hospital, and life is good. My wife is amazing,” he wrote.
Reflecting on a Fast and Furious Birth
For Rebecca, who has an older daughter, the speed of labor with Summer took them both by surprise. In a follow-up post on Facebook, Danya shared how the couple had been closely monitoring contractions and timing everything, but it all happened much faster than they anticipated.
“FOLLOW YOUR HEART and not your mind. Looking back, we both KNEW it was coming…BUT our reality did not fit the guidelines. We were downloading apps, clicking timers, checking bags (that were checked 20 times already), ensuring dogs were fed…all things that could have been ignored if we had been following our instincts instead,” he reflected.
He also offered a practical tip for expecting parents: “Follow your heart. And bring a few towels for the ride just in case.”
A Story to Treasure
The Mahotas’ story is one they’ll tell for years to come—a reminder that, no matter how well-prepared you are, life can always throw you a curveball. But it’s also a testament to the power of instinct, quick thinking, and the incredible strength of a mother in labor.
As for baby Summer, she’s sure to grow up hearing the tale of how she arrived in a Dunkin’ parking lot, her parents’ hearts racing, but full of love and joy as they welcomed her into the world. It’s a story of unexpected twists and turns, and the beautiful surprises that life sometimes brings our way.
