30 Scriptural Prayers For Family Foundation

23. JOHN 10:27

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

Lord, I pray that each of us will have ears attuned to Your voice. I pray we would know the Words and ways you speak more intimately and have the desire and courage to obey them.

24. PROVERBS 15:1

“A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.” Proverbs 15:1

Lord, help us respond to each other with gentle answers that diffuse conflicts rather than harsh words that make them worse.

25. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Lord, we thank You for everything You’ve done for our family and everything You have yet to do. We repent of our tendency to worry, which is a sign of distrust in Your character. When we are tempted to worry, remind us to take our concerns to you in prayer and thanksgiving and rest in Your peace that guards our hearts and minds.

26. EPHESIANS 2:10

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Lord, thank You that we are Your masterpieces. Help us to see ourselves and each other as the special creations we are. Teach us how to use the skills, passions, and personalities You’ve given us to do the work You planned for us long ago. Guide us as we walk out Your purposes for our lives.

27. PSALM 37:23-24

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” Psalm 37:23-24

Lord, thank You that You direct our steps. We trust in Your attentive guidance. Even when we stumble, we know we will not fall because You hold us by our hands.

28. COLOSSIANS 3:20

“Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers [and mothers], do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.” Colossians 3:20

Lord, give our kids hearts of obedience. Instill in them the desire to please You by doing what we ask of them. At the same time, keep us from aggravating them into discouragement. Give us wisdom to know when to correct, how to guide, and what to (and not to) say so we can more effectively lead their hearts to Jesus. Reveal to us any ways we have abused our positions of power or in any other manner parented outside the heart of Your example as our Heavenly Father.

29. EPHESIANS 5:1-2A

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ…” Ephesians 5:1-2

Lord, give us the grace and strength to imitate You in everything we do. Equip and empower us to live lives filled with love, following the example of Your Son, Jesus.

30. MATTHEW 5:16

“…let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:16

Lord, help us be a light in the world around us. Provide us with the desire and opportunities for good works, not for our own glory but so that everyone who sees us will see You.
