Since National Day of Prayer is May 6, I thought it would be a good time to dedicate a month of prayer for our families. Will you join me?

If that’s something you’d like to do (or want to do at some point), let me help by giving you 30 Scriptures and prayers for your family.

30 DAYS OF SCRIPTURAL PRAYERS FOR FAMILY FOUNDATION

Pray these Scriptures for your family over the next month, and use them to build a foundation of faith, love, and purpose in your home.

1. JOSHUA 24:15 & ROMANS 12:2

“…choose today whom you will serve…. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2

Lord, our family chooses to serve you. We declare and affirm we will not conform to the ways of the world, but will steadfastly adhere to Your Word and Your ways. Shape our minds and hearts so we can live in alignment with Your will.

2. MATTHEW 6:33 & MATTHEW 22:37-39

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33

“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

Lord, we commit to seeking You first as a family before all else. Help us to love You with our whole hearts, souls, and minds and love each other and those outside our home as You have loved us.

3. DEUTERONOMY 28:1-6

“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God: Your towns and your fields will be blessed. Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed. Your fruit baskets and breadboards will be blessed. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.” Deuteronomy 28:1-6

Lord, these promises were for the Israelite people long ago, but we know You continue to bless obedience. We pray over these same areas for our family: our communities, our livelihoods, our sources of provision, our children, the fruits of our labors, the work of our hands, our travel, and everything we put our hands to in accordance with Your will. As we are obedient to You, bless these things for Your glory.

4. PSALM 16:8 & PSALM 18:2

“I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” Psalm 16:8

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” Psalm 18:2

Lord, we rest and rely on Your strength and protection. Thank you that You never leave us or forsake us. No matter what comes against us, we will not be shaken, knowing that you are always right beside us.

5. COLOSSIANS 3:2

“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” Colossians 3:2

Lord, fix our eyes on the things of Heaven and not the things of earth. Help us keep this eternal perspective in everything we do, inside and outside our home.

6. EPHESIANS 5:15 & JAMES 1:5

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.” Ephesians 5:15

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” James 1:5

Lord, we desire to live carefully in wisdom, not foolishness. Give each member of this household wisdom to live a life that glorifies You.

7. 1 CORINTHIANS 10:14

“So, my dear friends, flee from the worship of idols.” 1 Corinthians 10:14

Lord, we know divided hearts are not hearts that are serving You. We repent from all things we have put above You. Search out hearts and reveal our idols to us so we can flee from them.
