Homecoming is a milestone students across the country look forward to each year. The football game and the dance both promise great fun, great looks, and a great time with friends. But when a dad, Matt Austin, shared a picture of his girls, he received some hateful comments about his daughters’ Homecoming dresses.

“My daughters look a little too good on homecoming night. Believe it or not, they’re even more beautiful on the inside,” Austin shared, along with this stunning photo. You’ll notice, he has a quirky smile—as many parents have when their kids grow up just too fast.
With more than 2,000 reactions and another 1,000 comments, parents are chiming in—many supporting Austin. And, some others shared their opinions about the girls’ dresses, and sparked quite a heated debate. Here’s what some had to say.

“All those comments about their dresses is just sad. If parents raise their sons to respect women no matter what they wear the world would be a safer place. “As a mom of boy’s I hope I taught my boys to respect women/girls. I would not have picked these outfits, but that is what all the young girls are wearing, and these two look beautiful in these outfits.”

But there were other comments, much more opinionated and attacking. Such as this fairly tame comment.
“Sorry my daughters would never leave the house looking for sale. To the people commenting that is all that is out there now, baloney….this father is letting his girls tell him what they are wearing. He didn’t have to purchase these dresses. The one in pink is really horrible. She can’t bend over, sit down or cross her legs without everyone getting a free show. Not cool dad.”
