So what did Steve and Jessica do in response to the suggestion that they should dress their daughter in a more girly wardrobe? Well, THIS:
Great job, guys! After all, boys don’t wear tights!! LOL.
Seriously, this totally cracked me up. But again, I want to state that the Rolds were just trying to be funny. They love their day care and mean no ill will at all. They also don’t think the worker’s comment was meant to be anything but helpful. “Whether it’s a cultural or a generational thing, we completely understand that they were just trying to be helpful,” Steve reiterated.
When my daughter was little, I loved to dress her in dresses and pretty things, but she also did wear a lot of blue because frankly, she looked gorgeous in it! She had a ton of hair and just looked really feminine for an infant, so I never got any pushback. The bottom line is, if you’re the parent, you get to choose how you dress your baby, and as long as they are in clothes that are weather-appropriate, comfortable, and fit well, I think you’re doing a-ok.
Even if it’s pajamas in the day time.
How did you choose to dress your baby? Did you go for more gender neutral styles, or just use whatever was on hand? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
