I Don’t Have a Job. I Have 50.

I don’t have a job. I have 50.

In other words, I don’t have a job that brings home a steady paycheck.

Yet, I’ve never been so fulfilled and worked so hard in my life.

I’m a stay-at-home mom.

And I want to make it clear – I love it. I chose it. I’m so grateful to get to do it.

I love my front row seat to their childhood and how I get to influence and guide them so closely throughout the day.

I love that I don’t have to return a hundred calls and emails and stress completely out over the morning commute.

I love knowing this is holy work and I’m bettering this world with the love I pour into my family and how I take care of our home.

Still, I hate that I’m cleaning up the same messes over and over and over again throughout the day.

I hate feeling unseen and undervalued as I watch my to-do list grow.

I hate I’m in charge of most of our shopping, but I’m not bringing new money in.

Still as difficult as it is, I know how fast my babes are growing, and this season will come to an end.

And yes, I may be the lead teacher and the mediator and chef and custodian and chauffeur and cheerleader and negotiator and nurse and counselor and party planner and coach and stylist and purchasing manager and supervisor and troubleshooter and so much more throughout the day –

I’m mom first.

And as I watch my babies grow into the incredible people they are, I’ve never felt more needed or more accomplished in my life.

I’m so proud of the work I get to do, and the people I get to work with.

I’m a stay-at-home mom.
