“If you really loved your child….”
“If you had done a better job parenting they wouldn’t be in this situation right now.”
Or maybe He attacks you personally:
“You will never have a good marriage so why even try.”
“No one appreciates what you do. Why don’t you just quit.”
“You don’t need to help that person. You will just be bothering them.”
The lies of the enemy aren’t just used on the young. They are whispered to those who are in their senior years as well. Lies such as “You don’t matter any more” and “You will never be useful again.”
The way to combat these lies is the same way the master combated the lies that were believed that day by the girl in the music class. They are combated with truth. John 8:31-32 tells us “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
I want to encourage you to begin to recognize the lies of the enemy. He doesn’t need a 12 step battle plan to stop you. Often he just needs one spoken lie to make you give up. Many times, we listen to the lie and are stopped before we even begin. Let the Lord replace the lies with the truth so the enemy can be defeated and the glory of God can shine through you!
