4. Be specific and meaningful
It might be harder to write a love letter at first but with some practice, it can be a great regular habit that you get into. It’s important to make sure that the letter you write is specific to your marriage so it doesn’t seem just grabbed from the internet. Write down what’s meaningful to you and your marriage, and specific things about your husband that you love. It can be a good idea to write specific love letters on special occasions, like the birth of a child, an anniversary, thanking them for something they’ve done (even a little thing!); any reason you can think of. Don’t limit yourself to one, either. If you have frequent reasons, then write frequent letters.
5. Start and end with love
You’ve started with a term of endearment so you want to end on a strong, loving note too. Don’t just cut it off at the end but be creative. Sum up your feelings and express your ongoing love for your husband. End your letter with something like saying you’re forever theirs, or signing with all your love forever. Let them know how much you appreciate them and how happy you are to be with them. Then, be sure to sign your name.
6. Decorate it
You want to package the letter in a pretty way as well, because that’s almost as important as the content. Don’t just write your letter on a napkin or the back of a newspaper. Joanna Woodley, a writer at Thesis Writing and Paper Fellows, shares her thoughts that you should “write on pretty paper, use some great personalized or gorgeous stationary, or use a greeting card. Add stickers or a personal drawing if that’s up your alley.”
7. Deliver it
You need to deliver it in a special way too. You may wish to surprise your husband by mailing it in a special envelope. Or, hide it somewhere they’ll find later, like in the sock drawer, on their plate at mealtime, or in their work bag to find when they arrive at work later. Put it in a nice envelope that will immediately bring a smile to their face when they see it.
