8-Year-Old Boy Lifts Car Off of Father, Credits Angel for Helping

By this point, Stephen was unconscious from the crushing weight and doesn’t remember J.T. saving his life. Stephen recalls, “All I remember is I felt peace. I remember seeing white, like a nice happy day. The clouds were going by, and everything was happy and peaceful.”

J.T. then ran to tell Mason to call 911. EastIdahoNews.com obtained the recording of the 911 call. In the recording, Mason is heard repeatedly telling Stephen to breathe.

First responders arrived shortly thereafter, and Stephen was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

“They did a bunch of scans on me, MRIs and EKGs, and all they found was 13 broken ribs,” Stephen recalls. “That’s all they found. Nothing internal was damaged. It was just a miracle.”

And, just two days later, Stephen was released from the hospital to go home.

J.T. credits an angel who helped him lift the car

Once they were all home, J.T.’s parents asked him to lift the car again. It’s no surprise, that this 8-year-old was unable to do so. When asked how he was able to lift the car off of his dad, J.T. simply said, “Angels.”

The community honored J.T. and his heroic response. He received one of the “East Idaho Real Heroes” awards from the American Red Cross.

J.T.’s mom, Jodi, shared, “This whole thing is a miracle. There’s no other way to describe it. There’s no way that little boy could have done that. I just felt that it was a responsibility we now have to tell people that miracles still exist.”
