For many moms, their kids’ school years are a hectic time. A lot of us feel like we spend 23 hours a day in our minivans or cars as taxi drivers, am I right?
Well, I for one will confess that even before my kids were in school, my car or minivan (it’s been a minivan since I added kid #3) has ALWAYS been a mess! As a matter of fact, my husband likes to call my van “the rolling trash bin.” I mean, when you have kids and diaper bag to lug from door to door, you don’t have room in your arms for the trash in the car, right? That’s my excuse!
PERHAPS (LOL!) that’s why this Facebook post from mom Nikki Pennington resonated with me SO. Her shout-out to the “hot mess school moms” did my heart good. Cause, DANG IT, I am trying my HARDEST to be a fantastic mom. And if the interior of my car is what gets neglected while my kids get my attention, support, and transportation services (ha ha), I can live with that.
Pennington shares a photo of her own car and says:
I’d like to give a shout out to all my fellow hot mess school moms.
The ones that let their child out at the drop off line and yesterday mornings breakfast wrapper rolls out with them.
The moms that haven’t been able to find the floorboard of their vehicles since August 1st of last year.
The moms that just found that homework assignment they were supposed to sign while cleaning out their cars.
The moms that tell the teachers the endless pile of soda cans from the entire year are only there because they are teaching their kids about recycling.
