I don’t know about you, but I’ve tended to be a little high strung in my motherhood journey. At times, it’s been hard for me to leave my kids in anyone else’s care, because no one does things exactly like I do. However, one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself as a mom is let my husband parent the way HE does, and not the way I want him to. It took me awhile to learn and accept that he is just as good at parenting as I am, and that not everything has to be done “my” way. There was a time when I might leave him copious baby care instructions when I was going out, but I’ve learned to let him do his thing, and now I often tell people that he is “a better mom than I am”—and it’s the TRUTH!
Honestly, I think dads get a bad rap sometimes, and they don’t deserve it. Most of them are pretty great parents…IF we let them be! That’s why I died laughing when I saw this Imgur post this morning by a dad whose wife was going out of town and leaving him with their three month old baby…and LOTS of baby care instructions.
What’s a first time dad left along with baby to do? Why, poke fun at his wife’s over the top baby care instructions on the internet of course.
The user, named Jacob, wrote a post on Reddit with a picture of his wife’s baby care instructions, and the caption, “Wife made me a list for the two nights she is out of town. We are both first time parents with a 3-month old son.”
But the photo didn’t merely contain the baby care instructions — it also included Jacob’s hilarious edits.
First, Jacob changed the word “instructions” to “recommendations.” Then, he has the gall to criticize her grammar. LOL! He continues going through the baby care instructions line by line, changing instructions like “Take play mat over to grandparents house for play time” to “Take XBox One over to grandparents house for video game time” and “Facetime with Mom” to “Teach him how to play Nintendo.” He also adds in some fun snide comments, like this one: after Mom’s note that the “Bottle warmer is already in the diaper bag,” he writes, “aka can’t screw this one up.”
My favorite parts are the lines he added at the end of his wife’s baby care instructions to troll her. Though her instructions only go through Thursday, he adds instructions for himself on Friday, saying his agenda will be:
- Recover from being a single dad
- Play Fallout 4
- Seek appreciation and praise from the wife
- Watch Dragon Ball Z
- Sleep
LOLOL! So funny! But then he one-ups himself with a list of “FAQs” for his wife. They include:
- When do I eat?
- Where is the dog?
- What do I eat?
- How do I cook?
- What if I don’t make it?
All I have to say is…for this dad’s sake, I hope his wife appreciates his snarky sense of humor! I mean, after all, leaving your new baby overnight for the first time is a really big deal!
But, still…I laughed pretty hard at this one. Well played, King Jacob. Well played. Let’s hope your wifey isn’t one to seek revenge.
