25 Things I Want My Kids to Know About Choosing Friends

Dear Kiddos Who Are Choosing Friends,

Here are 25 things I want you to remember when you are choosing friends that will make up your “inner circle.”

1. Surround yourselves with friends who care more about telling you the truth than making you feel good.

2. Surround yourselves with friends who don’t fear and fret about who they are and what they do because of who you are and what you do.

3. Surround yourselves with friends who care more about God’s opinion than yours.

4. Surround yourself with friends who are willing to look beyond and below the “okay” and “fine.”

5. Surround yourselves with friends who will hate your sin and fight it with you.

6. Surround yourself with friends who care about the people outside their “inner circles.”

7. Surround yourselves with friends who don’t bash their bodies and obsess over the temporal.

8. Surround yourselves with friends who seek the Truth and yearn to live the the Truth they seek.

9. Surround yourselves with friends who give and take, take and give.

10. Surround yourselves with friends who know that the world is bigger than them.

11. Surround yourselves with friends who can accept forgiveness and offer it.

12. Surround yourself with friends who not only ask you about your life and your day, but who also ask you about your heart and your soul.
