John Legend is Calling for Diaper Changing Stations in Every Bathroom

Ladies, we all know the struggle: You enter a public bathroom carrying a babe who just had the blowout of the century, and low and behold, there’s no changing table.

You’re left scrambling to find a *clean* place to take care of business, and desperate times call for desperate measures.

It’s a predicament we’ve all found ourselves in more times than we’d like to remember, and it’s not pretty.

Singer/songwriter John Legend can relate. The father of two knows all-too-well how challenging it can be to change kids’ diapers in public restrooms — particularly for fathers.

The “All of Me” singer notes that many dads — himself included — are often forced to “improvise” when it comes to places to change their kids’ diapers.

Pampers found that [nine] out of 10 public men’s rooms are lacking diaper changing stations.

With that research in mind, John Legend is teaming up with Pampers and Koala Kare to make a small difference for dads everywhere.

The initiative is part of Pampers’ Love the Change campaign and will provide 5,000 Koala Kare changing tables in men’s restrooms across the United States and Canada by 2021.

The 40-year-old said it all came about when he and wife, Chrissy Teigen, were sharing diaper changing duties with daughter, Luna.

“Daddy diaper duty is a real thing,” he said. “Daddies should be involved, and overall, we should be involved in the parenting responsibilities as much as we can. It’s time for society to say it’s time to change this kind of thing.”

“We don’t want to just talk about it, we want to do some building.”

Legend says it hadn’t really occurred to him that dads had been left out of the conversation — even in the advertising world — around diapers.

“Overall, it’s part of a movement that we recognize [the] duties of parenting and running the house should be shared more equally between partners,” he said, adding that he believes making changing stations available is going to “make a difference for a lot of people.”

Pampers and Koala Kare have already identified the first 500 locations for the new changing tables, with installation planned in the coming weeks.
