Infertility Gave Me You

Both of our stories started with brokenness. But look at us now. Look at the beauty that has been birthed out of so much pain. All of the ways the enemy tried to steal from us, Papa, He’s returning it. Bringing back to us what was stolen, and He does it with interest. Every time He does. Because we’re His children. And it’s in His very nature to restore and redeem, to give His children good things.

Our family will grow and change, but you, you’ll always hold my heart in a special way. One day, Mama will have babies that grow in her belly, because Jesus paid a very high price for my physical healing, and we know from your stories, He’s a God of miracles. But you, you two grew in my heart, and I carried you in a way I’ll never carry them. My pregnancies with you were way longer than nine months. And the labor, it lasted years. There might not be marks on my body left by you, but you marked my heart in a way no one else ever could.

Infertility isn’t what I thought I wanted, but it gave me you.

And you, my sweet babies, are more than I could have ever dreamed.

I’ll love you forever,

Jessica has seen the goodness of God in the midst of the heartbreak of infertility and the joys of adoption. It’s been the invitation found in the hard, where she has found deep intimacy with Father God. Mama to three through the gift of adoption and foster care by day, and blogger by night. Her days aren’t busy, but rather full, the very best kind. You can find her curled up on the couch with good coffee and her littles or speaking to groups of women all over the nation. Both are amazing, but home is where her heart is.
