I Finally Tried Walmart Pickup & I’m Never Going Grocery Shopping Again

I’ll just come right out and say it: grocery shopping for my family is one of the most dreaded parts of my week. It doesn’t matter how much of a plan I have, how specific my grocery list is, or how little time I have — grocery shopping is a CHORE.

Places like Walmart THRIVE on people like me — ADHD struck women who succumb to sensory overload and “unbeatable” prices on things that no one needs. It’s a perfectly executed trap, and I’m guilty of falling into it on a weekly basis.

My husband knows that if I’m going to the grocery store, he can count on not seeing me for several hours.

HOURS you guys! Who has time for that?! Not I, but somehow every week, here we are again.

For several months my best friend and my mom have been telling me about Walmart Grocery Pickup. They both rave about how easy it is, how much time it saves them and how much they love everything about it. But I just have not been sold.

Sure, it sounds great. But we live in this microwave society where convenience is King, and something about having another person do my grocery shopping just makes me feel apathetic. After all, how difficult is it to walk up and down some aisles? But if there’s anyone who can attest to such a “simple task” being incredibly difficult, it’s me.

So I finally tried Walmart Pickup, mamas. And I’m not one to be melodramatic, but it has changed my life forever.

Here’s everything you need to know about Walmart Pickup

1. It’s as easy as making your grocery list

If you’re anything like me, you probably make a list of all the things you need before you go to the store. My husband and I have a pad on the fridge that collects all of our scribbled needs throughout the week, and then I add to it with everything I need to make dinner that week.

With the Walmart Grocery app, it’s just as easy — if not easier — to make your same grocery list. The only difference? The work stops after the list done, whereas usually making the grocery list is just the beginning!

My husband and I both have the app and we login under the same account. Now, instead of jotting needs down on the fridge, we just add them to our cart in the app. At the end of the week I flip through and make changes to anything we’ve picked up along the way or need more of, and boom, I’m done. I select a pickup time and all of my grocery shopping is finished. Could it be ANY easier?

2. I saved SO much money

Y’all, I’m a Dave Ramsey toting ‘Frugal Fred’ through and through. But it doesn’t matter how much I plan my grocery lists or write out my meals for the week, I always end up spending more than I wanted, and buying more than I need. Come on somebody.

But my first time using Walmart Pickup, I saved over $30 from my usual grocery order! (And I didn’t even spend enough to be able to use my “$10 off your first order” coupon code! Get yours HERE!)

I can virtually put everything in my cart and SEE the total as I’m adding things. That’s the biggest difference. When you’re walking around the store, unless you’re adding every price up with a calculator and keeping track with each thing you place in your cart, it tends to be a rough guesstimate. But you guys, $3 here plus $6 here plus $2 there adds up fast.

For me, there’s just something about seeing how much I’m spending with certainty before I reach the checkout line. With Walmart Pickup, I can flip back through and remove things as my needs change and as I aim to keep things around my budget.
