Build-a-Bear Birthday Party Gone Wrong: Mom Forces 6-Yr. Olds to Give Their Creations To HER Daughter

At the end of her post, the Reddit mom asks the community if she’s being an entitled parent, to which the internet agrees, on no planet is she the one being entitled here.

Several Redditors agreed that the premise of the party wouldn’t have been so bad if the birthday party mom would have communicated the plans up-front, like in the invitation. That would have allowed the parents to prepare their children’s hearts and explain the setup of the party. Still, many felt the idea was a bit off.

Some gave the birthday party mom the benefit of the doubt:

Others were much less forgiving:

In an update the Reddit mom added to her post after having a conversation with the birthday party mom on Monday, it would seem she remained clueless to the pure torture she put eight little 6-year-olds through.

“This afternoon at school pickup me and another parent had a chance to talk with the mom of the party,” she added to the post Monday.

When informing the birthday party mom that she was confused as to why the kids didn’t get to keep their bears—even after she pitched $30 to help cover her kid—she replied with a less-than satisfying explanation.

“Well I didn’t have enough money for each of the guests to make their own, that would get pretty expensive! If you want your money back I’ll see about getting it back to you. I don’t really see the problem though.”

The Reddit mom explained that it was pretty obvious the kids were going to be upset, having poured their whole hearts into their new creations only to give them away. Then she dropped this zinger that the whole internet has been asking for three days now: “I also don’t see why your daughter needs all these animals.”

She says the birthday mom walked away, “probably offended.”

“What bothers me is she said she ‘didn’t have enough money for all the kids to have one,’ but she did have enough for her daughter to get like 8 bears. Just doesn’t really make sense.”

She ended it by saying that she probably should have talked it out with the mom a little bit more, but as it stands, no one is fighting and she doesn’t plan to mention it to her again.

So we’ll all just be over here fist-palming our faces at the Karen’s of the world, and praying that other parents have the sensibility not to torture 6-year-olds like this EVER again.
