Oh mothers, what a privilege we have to raise our daughters for God’s glory. Although raising them is no small feat today, it is possible through 4 prayers for our daughters.
There is so much demanding their attention. From; make-up, boys, the way they dress, peer pressure, the comparisons of their bodies, and the drama with girlfriends. Enough for any mother to wonder; oh Lord, what do I do?
Well, at least that was me.
As a woman, I personally understand the struggle to all these things, and I’m an adult. I can only imagine the pressure on our precious daughters, growing up pursing their teenage or young adult years.
However, I recognized walking my daughter through these things, was going to take some training, patience, and some prayers on my part.
“Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. 4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5 to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.” ~ Titus 2: 3-5 (AMPC)
4 Prayers For Our Daughters
God has been dealing with me for a while on this. As much as I try to be the example and teach her the WAY she should go; I realized the older she gets the more I have to trust her into the hands of our Heavenly Father.
There are 4 areas the Holy Spirit convicted my heart to pray for; her heart, her love for God, her love for others and the love for herself.
“And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment.”~ Mark 12:30 (AMPC)
Prayer For Her Heart
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” ~ Proverbs 4:23 NLT
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, and I pray over (_________) heart. That she would guard her heart out of her love for You by being mindful about what she sees or listen to. Keep her pure before you, and her heart free from anger or malice.
Prayer For Her Love For God
“Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind ~ Matthew 22:37 NLT
I pray Father God that (_________) would come to know you as her God, not her parent’s God. That she would love you with her whole heart, her mind, and her soul. That she would come to know you, Father God intimately, and personally, so that it affects her behavior and the way she speaks.
Prayer For Her Love For Others
“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” ~John 13:34 NLT
Oh Lord, I thank you for placing a heart of love, reverence and regard for others inside of (________). That she would be an extension of your love towards others. I pray Father God that she would be a young woman of compassion, walking in love and pursing peace those around her.
Prayer For Her Love For Herself
“Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.” ~ Psalm 139:13-16 (The Message)
Father God I pray for a spirit of boldness and confidence in (________). That she would recognize who she is in Christ, knowing that she is a daughter of the most high; created marvelously, and uniquely, for Your glory. And that she would see herself beautiful just the way You made her, after Your image.
Father I pray that she would be kind, and her words would be seasoned with love. That she would speak with a meek and quiet spirit; not being vain glorious. I bind the spirit of comparison with her beauty or talents to others.
I pray Father God that you would protect her; spirit, soul and body; giving her the strength to maintain her purity. That her mind would be focused on you and your word, as she pursues her teenage and young adult years. Surround her Father with good company; equally yoked friends, who will encourage her when she need to be reminded of your love for her.
I ask Father God that you would continue to give me the wisdom to love, encourage, and be an example of the godly woman you desire her to be. I ask all these things in Jesus name, AMEN.
Our daughters are so precious to God, He entrusted us to raise her for Him!
With this awesome privilege, comes the responsibility to dedicate her and lift her up in the prayer. This revelation came to me when I realized I’m not just raising my daughter. I’m raising a future wife and mother whose first love belongs to God.
With God’s help, through prayer, I can help lead her on the right path for her to follow.
